 Distribution of the family name in 1881.

Throughout the ages, Kinver was also known as

You are welcome to discuss this Midlands family on Facebook

The tree is headed by William PARR and his wife Elizabeth (of unknown family), my 7xGGPs, both born late 1600's and probably married before 1710. Their children (and year of baptism) include:

·       Elizabeth PARR (1710);

·       Mary PARR (1717);

·       Joseph PARR (1719);

·       John PARR (1722-1808) = Sarah WHITAKER in 1746 at Churchill, WOR (my 6xGGP). They owned Parr's Farm in Ismere, Worcestershire (present day on the A451, Stourbridge Road), although they may have lived just over the county border under Kinver. Their known children (and year of christening) were:

o   John PARR (1748-1820);

o   William PARR (1750-1827);

o   Sarah PARR (1753);

o   Joseph PARR (1754) = Nancy/Ann DEARDEN. Their children were:

§  Catherine PARR (n. May 1788) = George EVANS, an Old Swinford Schoolmaster;

§  Violetta PARR (c1790-1871) - unmarried;

§  Sarah PARR (c1792-1892) - unmarried;

§  Mary PARR (c1794);

§  John PARR (c1796);

§  Amelia PARR (c1798) = Joseph PARKES in May 1817, Sedgley;

§  Joseph PARR (c1800);

§  Emma PARR (c1802) = James SMITH (1799-1866) at Birmingham St Martin in July 1827. Widowed Emma SMITH was living with her 2 maiden sisters in 1871 Stourbridge;

§  Benjamin PARR (c1804);

o   Ann PARR (1758);

o   Susannah PARR (1760) = Robert DUGARD, a Butcher born c1760 in Feckenham, Worcs., at nearby Hagley in 1779 and are my 5xGGPs;

o   Thomas PARR (1761-1853);

o   Benjamin PARR (1762-1849);

o   Hannah PARR (1764) = William WINNALL;

o   Catherine PARR (1767-1859);

o   Violetta PARR (1769-1845) = William HEATH in 1788 at Bredon, WOR. They were the first 2 owners of the "Waggon & Horses" in Ismere, where all previous owners are recorded on the wall of the pub;

In "Gentleman's Magazine" in 1821 is was reported that Robert PARR, the great grandson of the celebrated Thomas PARR resided in Kinver where he died in 1757 aged 124. Thomas, who resided at Winnington in Shropshire, was referred to as "Old Tom" based on stories that he died in 1635 aged 152. There is no proven connection to the above family.
