"DJ" did Neurobiology BSc at Sussex (1977-80) and became a Research Assistant whilst undertaking PhD and SERC-funded research entitled "Binocular Vision in Anurans". Bored with the PhD he joined a band as a bassist, married pro musician Jane in 1984, moved to Ascot and became a Scientific Civil Servant at the Transport Research Laboratory, Bracknell. This ended abruptly in 1999 in 'executive burn out'. Moved to Wells, Somerset in 1994. In 2001 joined the Bristol Royal Infirmary as a Senior Clinical Auditor in Cardiac Surgery. Voluntarily quit the NHS in 2009 to focus as music producer for Jane's music.

Moved to Geneva, Switzerland in 2006 & currently Exploration Manager with Canadian start-up ShaMaran Petroleum working assets in Iraqi Kurdistan. Married Felicity after meeting her in Madagascar in 1988. 2 boys, the eldest at University in the UK with the other still deciding what to do. When he has time he plays with music composition (“DisGraceful Productions”) and traces his roots through family history/genealogy both using the paper records and Y-DNA & mtDNA genetic analyses.

Peterhouse College, Cambridge reported the death of Neil on 26 January 2010, Fellow and Development Director since 2000. He passed away peacefully at home, aged 50 years. The Funeral Service took place at All Saints Church, Sedgley, on February 10^th, followed by a private Family Burial at Gornal Wood Cemetery.
